2019 dominican republic trip

PA students and teachers volunteered for an Agricultural Engineering Program in the Dominican Republic. The program is funded by the Dominican Republic government. It offers scholarships for students from Haiti. The students learn agricultural engineering skills and work for the Haitian government to improve the deforestation problem in Haiti.

Our 11-person team worked the entire morning planting trees and removing weeds. It rained non-stop and our students and teachers were dirty and wet from working in the muddy fields. But everyone had fun and we're excited to support the project.

One afternoon students went on a river rafting adventure on Yaque del Norte River in Jarabacoa. Yaque del Norte River is the longest in the Caribbean. There were 3 rafts, 4 people and a professional guide per raft. The whole river adventure was 2 and a half hours long. The water flows very fast. Students got very wet but completed the river rafting safely under the instruction of the experienced guides. Students laughed and screamed during the thrilling rafting adventure!

It was a fun and fruitful trip that bonded our students closely.
